Welcome to Daikei - 2003!
In this course, we will try to achieve the followings together. I hope we'll have fun!
Objectives
(1) To become more proficient in English, especially reading on the web (2) To be able to read efficiently using reading skills such as scanning, skimming, and predicting, (3) To build strong vocabulary (4) To be more proficient in using computers and the Internet for in-class and self-study (5) To enjoy using English!
Textbook
ABAX Work Book for New Words and Expressions. By Hugh Graham-Marr.
Grades
Attendance: 30%. If your attendance is less than 60%, you will fail automatically.
Tasks: 25%. This includes Vocabulary Notebook (this is your textbook!). Vocabulary Notebook is where you keep new vocabulary you learn from this class. You will keep at least 10 new words with example sentences.
Quizzes: 25%. Every week, there will be a quiz at the beginning of the class. The quizzes will include new words, new phrasal-verbs, and reading skills from the previous lessons. The first quiz will not be graded, because you don’t know what type of quiz until you take one!
Exams: 20%. This will be explained in class.
